Regrouping Fractions

I made a PPT using this video as the focus to teach adding and subtracting integers. The song is catchy and with practice, adding and subtracting negative and positive integers became easy!

How Many Yards of Toilet Paper Will It Take to Wrap Each Person?
Let's estimate, measure, count, multiply, graph and have fun!
Below the snowmen, we are keeping count of the USA Medal Standings..Go Team USA!!!!
Then, we put together the branches. We held the branches and I secured the top with bungee cords:
Then we found the center:
Then we made a compass with string to find a circular base for our cone shaped teepee:
We will take this measurement and make a circle out of cardboard for our base. We will learn about diameter and radius along the way:)
IPad Math Multiplication Arrays for Halloween. I dressed them up like mummies;)
I made little ghost puppet masks for them. We also used candy corn and candy pumpkins. I had them use the app Pic Collage to make the arrays.
In one of my language arts classes we carved a pumpkin, so in math we used multiplication to figure out how many seeds were in the pumpkin. It was a messy, yet fun day!
My math class LOVES Sushi Monster! What a motivator!
It is time to create a company with my students. We decided to make "stress balls" as our product for sale this year. The students are busy using division to figure out how much I paid for each balloon. One pack of 20 balloons cost me $2.99. They converted the dollars into pennies and we did some lengthy "equal sharing". They quickly realized that a calculator was a great friend:)
We are in the process of figuring out how to measure the flour we will use to fill the balloons so that we can figure out how many portions of flour are in one bag of flour! I know that this sounds crazy, but I love to watch them have "ah ha" moments!
I am going to incorporate a poll into this project. Maybe we will poll favorite colors. this way we can make sure that our students have plenty of their favorite colors to choose from when they come to buy from our "store".
I plan to use this for the polling:
Math Project-Snowman on the door. How many cups will we need to collect? How will we use the cones?
Igloo Math- I incorporated our geometry unit into this fun project. The students measured to find the middle of the base, made perpendicular lines, identified the right angles, and made a compass from string and a marker.
They estimated how many more milk jugs it will take to finish the project. I can't wait until we are finished. We have had tremendous help from my sister-in-law who has 5 children. Thank goodness they drink a lot of milk!
